Personal information will not knowingly be used for a purpose materially incompatible with the purpose for which it was collected unless permitted by law or appropriate further consent is obtained.

7. Applicable Privacy Framework and Consent

White Ink Publishing operates from India.

As of the date of this Policy, the Indian privacy framework is undergoing a statutory transition.

Section 43A of the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the associated Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011 remain relevant during the transition.

The Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and Digital Personal Data Protection Rules, 2025 have a staged commencement. Relevant obligations will apply according to the legally notified commencement schedule.

Accordingly, White Ink Publishing intends to:

  1. comply with privacy requirements legally applicable at the relevant time; and

  2. progressively implement appropriate DPDP-compliant practices as those provisions become operative.

Where legally required, consent will be sought in a clear and appropriate manner.

Where you voluntarily provide information specifically to request a service—for example by submitting an enquiry or placing an order—we may process the information reasonably necessary to fulfil that request, subject to applicable law.

8. Payments and Razorpay

Online payments may be processed through Razorpay.

Razorpay may independently collect and process information required for payment processing, security, fraud prevention and regulatory compliance.

White Ink Publishing may receive information necessary to administer a transaction, such as:

  • customer or order information;

  • amount;

  • payment status;

  • payment reference;

  • transaction status.

Confidential payment authentication credentials submitted directly through Razorpay's payment environment are handled through Razorpay's systems.

White Ink Publishing does not ask customers to send confidential authentication credentials directly to us.

Customers should review Razorpay's applicable privacy terms when using Razorpay payment services.

9. Digital Product Delivery

When you purchase a digital publication, information associated with the order may be processed to:

  • verify successful payment;

  • confirm your purchase;

  • deliver the publication;

  • provide download access;

  • resend or restore access where appropriate;

  • diagnose delivery problems;

  • prevent unauthorised or fraudulent access;

  • maintain necessary transaction records.

The precise commercial delivery terms are governed separately by our Digital Delivery Policy.

Where the actual delivery system changes, this Privacy Policy may be updated accordingly.

10. Contact Forms

Our general Contact form may request:

Name • Email • Subject • Message

Information submitted through the Contact form may be used to handle:

  • order support;

  • download issues;

  • publication enquiries;

  • general enquiries;

  • correction submissions;

  • feedback.

Submitting a Contact form does not automatically enrol you in promotional marketing.

Please do not include unnecessary confidential, financial, medical or other sensitive information in a general enquiry.

11. Cookies and Similar Technologies

Our website may use technologies necessary for basic website, ecommerce, security and session functionality.

Optional analytics or marketing technologies may also be introduced.

Where consent is required for non-essential tracking technologies, we intend to provide appropriate controls before such technologies are activated.

We will not describe Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, Hotjar or another optional tool as active unless it is actually enabled.

If our use of tracking technologies materially changes, we will update this Privacy Policy and, where appropriate, the website's cookie notice.

12. Analytics

Where website analytics are lawfully enabled, analytics may be used to understand matters such as:

  • website traffic;

  • pages visited;

  • device or browser categories;

  • source of visits;

  • website performance;

  • navigation patterns;

  • general conversion performance.

We do not intend to use ordinary website analytics to infer unnecessary sensitive characteristics about individual visitors.

Where consent is required, optional analytics will be subject to appropriate consent controls.

13. Marketing Communications

Purchasing a publication, submitting a Contact form or requesting customer support does not by itself constitute consent to receive unrelated promotional marketing.

If White Ink Publishing later introduces newsletters or promotional email campaigns, appropriate opt-in or other legally permitted mechanisms will be used where required.

Where applicable, promotional communications will include a practical means to unsubscribe or withdraw consent.

Necessary transactional communications—such as order confirmations, payment information, delivery messages or responses to support enquiries—are separate from promotional marketing.

14. Service Providers and Disclosure of Information

We do not sell or rent personal information to data brokers or unrelated advertisers.

Information may be made available only where reasonably necessary to service providers or recipients connected with legitimate purposes described in this Policy.

These may include:

Hostinger, for website hosting, Website Builder, ecommerce infrastructure, digital delivery, security and related services.

Razorpay, for payment processing, payment security, transaction administration, fraud prevention and regulatory purposes.

Email or communication providers, where necessary to send and receive business communications.

Analytics or marketing service providers, only where such services are actually enabled and used consistently with applicable consent requirements.

Government, judicial, regulatory or law-enforcement authorities, where disclosure is legally required or permitted through valid legal process.

We aim to limit disclosure to information reasonably necessary for the relevant purpose.

15. International Processing

Some technology, hosting, payment or other service providers may operate infrastructure or use subprocessors outside India.

Where this results in processing outside India, White Ink Publishing will use service arrangements appropriate to its operations and comply with applicable Indian restrictions or requirements governing such processing.

We will adapt our practices if applicable transfer requirements change.

16. Data Retention

We retain personal information for no longer than reasonably required for its legitimate purpose, subject to legal, tax, accounting, security, payment, dispute-resolution and recordkeeping requirements.

For example:

Enquiries and correspondence may be retained for a reasonable period necessary to respond, maintain relevant records and deal with follow-up matters.

Order, payment-status and delivery records may be retained where necessary for customer support, accounting, fraud prevention, chargebacks, disputes and legal compliance.

Security and technical logs may be retained where necessary for security, troubleshooting and compliance.

Where applicable law requires a specified minimum retention period, that requirement will prevail.

Information may be retained longer where another applicable law requires or permits such retention.

17. Deletion and Erasure

Where personal information is no longer reasonably required and no applicable legal, accounting, security, contractual, dispute-related or other lawful retention requirement applies, we may securely delete, anonymise or otherwise dispose of it.

Where applicable law provides a right to request erasure, you may make such a request using the contact details below.

A request for deletion does not require us to erase information that we are legally required or permitted to retain.

18. Reasonable Security Practices

White Ink Publishing seeks to maintain reasonable technical and organisational safeguards appropriate to:

  • the nature of the information handled;

  • the size and nature of our operations;

  • the technology and service providers used;

  • reasonably foreseeable security risks.

Our protections may include security controls provided through our hosting, payment, ecommerce, email and related infrastructure, together with appropriate account-access and administrative practices.

However:

No internet transmission, website, computer system, electronic-storage system or security measure can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Customers should protect their own devices, email accounts, passwords and payment credentials.

19. Personal Data Breaches and Security Incidents

If we become aware of a personal-data or security incident affecting information for which we are responsible, we will take reasonable steps to:

  • investigate the incident;

  • contain or mitigate relevant risks;

  • preserve appropriate records;

  • cooperate with relevant service providers;

  • comply with applicable notification or reporting duties.

Where applicable law requires notification to affected persons, the Data Protection Board of India, CERT-In or another competent authority, the legally applicable requirement will govern.

20. Children and Young Readers

Some White Ink Publishing publications may be intended for or useful to families, parents, teachers, teenagers and children.

However, our ecommerce checkout and collection of transaction information are intended to be adult-directed.

Persons under 18 should not independently:

  • submit payment credentials;

  • make purchases without appropriate parent or guardian involvement;

  • submit unnecessary personal information;

  • send sensitive information through a general Contact form.

Parents or lawful guardians should supervise purchases and online submissions involving children.

Where applicable law requires parental consent or other safeguards for processing a child's personal data, White Ink Publishing will implement the legally required measures.

If you believe a child has submitted personal information improperly, please contact:

contact@whiteinkpublishing.com

21. Your Privacy Rights and Choices

Depending on the law applicable and in force at the relevant time, you may have rights or choices concerning personal information, including rights to:

  • request review of information provided by you;

  • request correction of inaccurate information;

  • update or complete information;

  • request erasure where legally applicable;

  • withdraw consent where processing relies on consent;

  • obtain information regarding processing where applicable;

  • raise a privacy grievance;

  • exercise additional rights created by applicable law.

White Ink Publishing may also voluntarily accommodate reasonable requests where appropriate even before a particular future statutory right becomes operative.

22. Making a Privacy Request

Privacy requests may be sent to:

Privacy & Grievance Officer: Arun Suresh Tiwari
Email: contact@whiteinkpublishing.com

Please describe your request clearly.

Before disclosing, correcting or deleting personal information, we may request reasonable information to confirm that the request relates to you.

We will not ask you to provide your banking password, UPI PIN, card PIN or OTP as a method of verifying an ordinary privacy request.

23. Grievance Redressal

Grievance Officer: Arun Suresh Tiwari
White Ink Publishing
Email: contact@whiteinkpublishing.com

We will handle privacy and consumer grievances fairly and in accordance with applicable legal requirements.

Where applicable law prescribes a response or resolution period, we will follow that requirement.

Nothing in this Privacy Policy is intended to remove or restrict a statutory consumer, privacy or legal remedy available to you.

24. Fraud, Misuse, Chargebacks and Legal Claims

We may preserve and process information where reasonably necessary and lawfully permitted to:

  • detect or investigate fraud;

  • investigate unauthorised access;

  • investigate misuse of digital products;

  • respond to payment disputes or chargebacks;

  • protect intellectual-property rights;

  • enforce contractual or legal rights;

  • respond to lawful claims;

  • comply with legal proceedings;

  • establish or defend legal claims.

Information processed for these purposes will be limited to what is reasonably relevant and permitted by law.

25. Government and Legal Requests

We may disclose information where required or permitted by applicable law, court order, regulatory requirement or other valid legal process.

Where reasonably possible and legally permitted, disclosure will be limited to information relevant to the lawful request.

Nothing in this clause authorises disclosure that is prohibited by applicable law.

26. No Sale of Personal Information

White Ink Publishing does not sell personal information to data brokers.

We do not provide customers' order information to unrelated businesses merely so that those businesses can advertise unrelated products to our customers.

Necessary processing by hosting, payment, ecommerce, email, security or other legitimate service providers is not considered a sale of personal information for purposes of this Policy.

27. External Websites and Services

Our website may contain links to social-media platforms, payment providers or other third-party websites and services.

Independent third parties operate under their own terms and privacy policies.

White Ink Publishing is not responsible for the privacy or security practices of an unrelated third-party service merely because a link to that service appears on our website.

You should review the relevant third-party privacy terms before providing information directly to such services.

28. Changes in Business Structure

If White Ink Publishing is later incorporated, restructured, transferred, reorganised or succeeded by another legally permitted business structure, information reasonably associated with the business may be transferred as part of that change where permitted by applicable law.

Any successor responsible for such information will be required to handle it consistently with applicable law.

Where such a change materially affects how personal information is processed, this Policy will be updated and additional notice will be provided where legally required.

29. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when necessary because of changes in:

  • law or regulation;

  • our business structure;

  • website functionality;

  • ecommerce systems;

  • payment providers;

  • digital-delivery processes;

  • analytics or marketing technologies;

  • service providers;

  • security practices;

  • privacy procedures.

The revised policy will display an updated Last updated date.
